Start with spending and redemption.
These offers use different reward currencies. A points balance and a miles balance of the same size need not buy the same trip. Choose a redemption you would actually use, subtract the costs you expect, and check whether the purchase target fits your existing plans. A restricted travel credit should not be treated as cash in your bank account.
Run your own numbers.
Hypothetical: someone with $300 a month in ordinary eligible purchases has about $900 over three months. A larger reward does not close a gap between that budget and a higher purchase target. Leave room for refunds and posting delays.
