The practical difference

Chase Total Checking® has the larger reviewed reward ($400 cash bonus) and accepts $1,000 in total qualifying direct deposits. 360 Checking offers $250 cash bonus, requires two separate qualifying deposits of at least $500 each, and has no monthly service fee.

Which deposit pattern fits?

One qualifying $1,000 payroll deposit can meet Chase’s reviewed amount requirement, but it does not meet Capital One’s two-deposit count. Two qualifying $500 paychecks can meet either reviewed deposit hurdle if both post inside the applicable window. A $500 deposit followed by $499 meets neither offer.

The clocks start on different events.

Chase gives 90 days from offer or coupon enrollment and says the reward is generally paid within 15 days after all requirements are complete. Capital One gives 75 days from account opening, then assesses eligibility after that period and allows up to 60 additional days for payment—up to 135 days from opening.

Compare the ongoing account cost.

Chase lists a $15 monthly fee with several waiver paths, including $500 or more in qualifying electronic deposits per statement period. That fee rule is separate from the welcome-bonus direct-deposit rule. Capital One lists no monthly service fee or minimum balance requirement, though other service charges can still apply.

Check account history before applying.

Existing Chase checking customers are excluded. Closed-account restrictions apply; one checking opening bonus per two years. Transfers from your own bank do not count.

Ineligible if you held 360 Checking, Simply Checking, or Total Control Checking as primary or secondary owner on or after January 1, 2024. Only one account bonus; offers cannot be combined.

These are different eligibility tests. Account approval does not prove bonus eligibility, and BonusField does not know your account history.

Choose from the constraint that could disqualify you.

Start with deposit count, enrollment timing, prior-account history, and fee management. The larger headline reward is useful only when the exact activity and eligibility rules fit your situation. Save the issuer terms before opening because either promotion can change.
